Dermal fillers and AIIRD: study results and Armonita post-treatment routine
In the common imagination, fillers and autoimmune rheumatic diseases should not meet. Yet, a study published in Dermatologic Surgery (January 2022) gathered patients’ voices, and the picture that emerges is more nuanced — and more reassuring — than one might think.
What the study investigated
Researchers administered a questionnaire to 194 patients seen in rheumatology outpatient clinics between 2016 and 2018.
They asked: “How do you feel about fillers? Have you had them? Would you do them again? With what effects?”
It emerged that those who had undergone the procedure were largely satisfied and reported minimal side effects. A significant portion wanted to try them; many, however, did not inform their rheumatologist.
The final message: from the patients’ perspective, fillers can be well tolerated in individuals with AIIRD, while still requiring caution and clinical dialogue.
How to turn data into practice
The key point is therapeutic alliance. Always share timing and ongoing therapies (including immunomodulators) and ask for a skin preparation and recovery plan. The quality of the skin before and after injection affects both comfort and aesthetic results.
Armonita support, before and after treatment
Armonita was created to complement aesthetic medicine protocols with formulas focused on barrier protection, hydration, and comfort.
Anti-Redness Emulgel: the “soothing” gesture immediately after treatment. Reduces redness and swelling post-injection, promotes drainage, and protects the skin barrier. Perfect for the first 48–72 hours.
HA Serum: multi-molecular hyaluronic acid with firming actives for deep hydration, plumping effect, and relief from dryness and tightness. Ideal for prolonging the perceived fullness.
HA Regenerating Cream: ceramides, niacinamide, and nourishing oils to restore the barrier and improve elasticity and comfort when the skin is more fragile.
Sleep & Peel Cream: gentle overnight exfoliation with next-generation acids and bakuchiol; reintroduce only when the skin is stable for even luminosity.
An essential routine
- Days 0–3: gentle cleansing, Anti-Redness Emulgel, and HA Serum; add HA Regenerating Cream if extra nourishment is needed.
- From day 4: continue with HA Serum; apply HA Regenerating Cream in the evening for barrier support and elasticity.
- From the 2nd–3rd week: reintroduce Sleep & Peel Cream on alternate nights if the skin is calm.
For professionals: synergy with Armonita fillers
The injectable options cover different needs:
Filler Strong for deep corrections and contouring, Filler Medium for medium–superficial wrinkles, Filler Biorevitalizing as a skin booster also for dynamic areas and — thanks to the 3 ml format — hands and neck.
The study suggests that, from the perspective of patients with AIIRD, fillers can be well accepted and associated with minimal side effects.
The real difference lies in clinical collaboration and a targeted skincare approach, such as the Armonita post-procedure line, designed to support treatments with safety and more harmonious results.
